Celtics Summer

After a wifi-less vacation in hometown Indiana I'm back, and the Celtics have gotten busy.

The Celtics finally got their man in Courtney Lee for the price of JJ, E'twaun and Sean Williams. Lee gives the Celtics a more than capable backup behind Avery Bradley; Lee may even get the starting job if Bradley isn't able to feature in the beginning of the season. Lee was much more than serviceable in Houston average 11 points a game and is also a very good 3 point shooter. The C's have now restocked the shooting guard position with a healthy Bradley, Lee and Jason Terry who can play either the 1 or the 2.

This trade caused the C's summer league team to noticeably suffer. Moore was the leader of the team, and was also playing at a very high level putting up 25 points in his final game in Vegas. The move must have come as quite of a shock to Moore who was a top 5 guard in both Vegas and Orlando. JaJuan Johnson was also a player who put up decent numbers for the team this summer. Johnson is a gifted rebounder due to his 6'10 frame and unquestioned athleticism. Sean Williams was already on his way out after the team brought back Chris Wilcox. Speaking of the center position, Boston also signed Hawks back up center Jason Collins to the veterans minimum to rein-force Kevin Garnett and Wilcox this year. Backup PG from last season Keyon Dooling also signed a one year deal with the C's, and will play behind Jason Terry and Rondo. This is how next years squad will most likely look.

PG: Rondo/Terry/ Dooling
SG: Bradley/Lee
SF: Pierce/Green/Joseph
PF: Bass/ Sulley
C: Garnett/Wilcox/

The most notable name that misses the cut here is Fab Melo, a guy who looked absolutely lost at times on the floor in summer league. Melo may get a call-up but that remains to be seen.

The NBA schedule was released yesterday, and after I looked I went for a 50-55 win prediction for the season. I will look more closely at the schedule in tomorrows post.

This C's roster is a lot more talented, and even younger than last year with the additions of Sulley, Lee, Joseph and Bradley. All signs point for a good year, all signs except the ones pointing towards south beach.

    1. Thanks for the comment and the call on my error! I agree with everything you said, although I think that the Pacers may give us some competition for the two seed. Go C's!

    2. And I personally see Green as more of a 3 rather than a 4.

  2. He could be a three or four depending on the situation. I don't see the Pacers making that much noise. They should have finished off the Heat when they had them down. They don't use Hibbert like they should. You have a 7' 4" guy who can play the post and all you wanna do is make jumpers from the perimeter? Not so smart. They should have taken advantage of the Heat's weakness-inside presence. I didn't see that many great moves for them in the off season and the Celtics got tons better and deeper in the off season. Can you imagine if we were healthy from the get go? We would have been the third seed easy last year. It all depends on health. I see Pierce bouncing back from the MCL problem and I think KG will be locked and ready to unload his talents in Boston and all over the NBA including South Beach. We will be doing some scoring in the 4th with Terry, Lee, Green and company. Look at how great on d Avery was playing before he got hurt. He put Dwayne Wade in his place. He's a great cutter and can shoot the three. Did I mention we have the best pure point guard in the league averaging triple doubles? His assists average was offensive! He'll only get better and his jumper is getting pretty great that they are going to have to play up on him so he can blow by and do his thing. Celtics looking stellar!

    1. Yeah I agree with you on most fronts. The C's are stacked for next year, that much we know. For the Pacers though, I think they will work the ball into Hibbert more. The thing with Indy is that they have a lot of good youngsters who haven't fully developed yet. I think George Hill will be a lot more solid this season at the point guard spot. Hansbrough will get also be better this year, as will a guy by the name of Lance Stephenson who played great in summer league. And the guy to watch in Indy is Paul George. The guy is an athletic freak who can also shoot the three ball and be a tenacious defender at times. Im looking for him to greatly improve this season. And you never know what might happen with the Knicks.

What do you think about my blog? Do you have any suggestions about how I could make it better or advertise it better?

    2. Good analysis. You are right, they are young and they will better plus they have a good coach too. We'll see what happens. I like your blog. It has been fun responding to it. Of course I found it on the ESPN/Boston Blog. I think you should keep going to the articles and responding or trolling. Keep plugging it with your posts. I think you'll fish more people that way. Hope that helps.
